Hello! My name is Lori Kenmonth, but my friends and family have called me Lu for most of my life. I've been teaching in NVUSD since 2000 after graduating from Chapman University with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I love teaching 1st and 2nd grades because it's the best time to teach the love of books and reading.
When I'm not in the classroom, you can usually find me at one of the local theaters in town working on a set, designing stage lights or stage managing a show. I love to sew art quilts and work in the garden with my dog Daisey. Every June when school is out, I go home to Hawaii to visit my parents.
I come from an extended family of thespians and musicians. You might have seen my youngest son Nolan on the stage at the college. He played the big blue Genie in Disney's Aladdin, and Horton the elephant in Seussicial. Or perhaps you saw my husband, Kevin Barney, as the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland, or heard both of them singing Beethoven's 9th Symphony when the college opened their new performing arts building. If you listen carefully, you can hear my oldest son, Nick, running the sound system and cues at Dreamweaver's Theater.
I look forward to a terrific school year!
